Campaign: Tapfuma knows the consequences of young people not having anything to do...

There's not a lot for young people to do where I live. Young people, when they have nothing else to do, hang around on the streets and boredom leads them to experimenting with drink and drugs. I decided that I wanted to do something about this and to provide somewhere for young people to go.

I have been dancing for a very long time and am in a dance troupe called ‘Nemisis’ – in fact you might have seen us on Britain’s Got Talent a couple of years ago.  The experience made me realise that there is a huge amount of talented young people out there who just need the opportunity to practice their skills.

I decided that I wanted to open a dance studio and encourage all the local young people to come and spend their time there and to focus all their energies into perfecting their skills rather than drinking and taking drugs. I got in touch with Fixers and they helped me to make a promo video for the project so that when I was pitching to get sponsorship to build the studio, I would have something to show them.

We got a load of local young people to be involved in the video and it turned out to be fantastic! I am still trying to get the money and the sponsors to be able to build the studio but the future is looking bright so watch this space!
